Health & Wellness
Food & Nutrition
We work with families to accommodate dietary restrictions and can commonly work with most common choices or allergies. We do not advise that campers with life threatening food allergies join our camp at Huntington Lake. We are ready for all emergencies but our distance from advanced medical care makes this an unnecessary risk for the campers. Our Santa Cruz location is recommended in these situations. Contact our office to discuss your child’s health and dietary needs.
Safety & Wellness
We have a modern, well-appointed Health Center. All meds are checked in with the nurse who safely stores and dispenses to the campers as required. Our Health Center offers a bright and cheerful retreat for first aid and bed rest if needed. A doctor is on-call. In the unlikely event your camper requires medical attention, we will contact you immediately.
Health Policy
We continue to believe in vaccinations as a part of a broad strategy to keep kids healthy at camp. The last thing we want is for anyone to get sick, and vaccinations play a role in mitigating the risk of serious illness. Having said that, we recognize that each family has different circumstances and makes decisions for their own children. So, we do have a policy that allows medical or personal exemptions.
If you will not consider any particular childhood recommended vaccination for your camper, you become ineligible for any credits or refunds that may be made available to others should your camper need to leave camp due to an outbreak of that illness. We urge you to make sure that you have sufficient insurance to cover cancellation fees in this circumstance. We want kids to experience camp and also for your investment to be protected! If a government agency imposes a vaccine requirement for camp attendance, or our own medical team makes a decision to require a specific vaccine, we would not consider this a reason to offer a refund.
We do not plan to require pre arrival COVID-19 testing for Summer 2025, but reserve the right to revert to the following policy at any time.
We continue to stay up to date with requirements and recommendations from the CDC, CDPH, CalOSHA, the County of Santa Cruz, and the American Camp Association.
Kennolyn Camps, Huntington Lake takes place on a site that is operated under a Special Use Permit from the USDA Forest Service on the Sierra National Forest, California. The camp operates on a non-discriminatory, equal-opportunity basis.
